Hi, I’m Kathy O’Meara, and I have the best job in the world – connecting with people at the deepest level and empowering them to become the best, the healthiest, and the happiest version of themselves. Power Down Therapy is a centre of excellence in the field of clinical and academic expertise combined with compassion, empathy and integrity.
I am a highly experienced and accredited bodywork and sports therapist, Advanced Lymphoedema Therapist, Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) and Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy (DLT) practitioner, reflexologist, yoga teacher, sports therapist and specialist (cancer & cardiac) exercise trainer so you’re in expert, professional hands – literally!
Our bodies are complex organisms, capable of withstanding a high degree of stress, whether through illness, injury, surgery, postural difficulties, trauma, adhesions or emotional issues. This can manifest - sometimes years later - as pain, sleep deprivation and exhaustion, with low mood and energy on the floor.
You are the architect of your own health and wellbeing. You are your own best, priceless investment. We can help, guide and support you on a number of levels with a range of services. From powering down with relaxing reflexology, or healing massage, MLD and breath work; to powering up with therapeutic sports massage, rehabilitation training – all the way to the gym floor or pool for private coaching. Also empowering with professional advice, help, support and a listening ear for deep seated stress-related and emotional issues.
All Power Down treatments are bespoke - addressing the issues presenting in your body, mind and spirit - and often intuitive, drawing on skills developed over many years of practice, hands on experience and intensive study. I am currently studying for a ProfDip in Positive Health with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI).
The benefits of bodywork treatment are manifest:
We work with athletes, pregnant women, people struggling with weight issues, those with chronic conditions, people with profound disabilities (wheelchair accessible), menopausal & perimenopausal women, cancer and cardiac disease sufferers (Level 4), to name a few.
The most common issues we treat include:
Thanks to specialist Level 4 training in cardiac and cancer protocols Kathy offers 1:1 exercise training to those recovering from a cardiac incident and those on any stage of their cancer journey. Both groups benefit exponentially from safe, expert guidance back to fitness.
Kathy works with people with Lymphoedema, Lipodema, Sinus complaints and pre and post operatively (including cosmetic surgery) to reduce edema and lymphatic build up through specialised Manual Lymph Drainage, Vodder Method (MLD), Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy (DLT) and bandaging, exercise and nutrition guidance and breath therapy.
Kathy also works online by appointment. Fully GDPR compliant.

Here's what we do!
Whether you have a sports related injury, a chronic complaint, a pre or post-operative issue, I can help. I specialize in exercise-based rehabilitation incorporating posture analysis, resetting movement patterns, clinical massage, deep tissue massage, soft tissue release, trigger point therapy and breathing techniques.
Your work with me will incorporate treatment, rehabilitation and injury prevention information, delivering a comprehensive, bespoke treatment plan.
My aim is to get you back to full functional movement as speedily as possible. We also discuss your sleep, nutrition, movement and hydration habits where appropriate.
Reflexology is the essence of powering down. It is an ancient, non-invasive complementary health therapy that can be effective in promoting deep relaxation and overall wellbeing; by reducing the effect of the stress hormone cortisol we can help the body and mind optimize good health and build resilience for whatever life throws our way.
I work on the feet and the face primarily, as they are the roadmaps for the whole body. By manipulating, and applying pressure to certain parts of the feet, the whole body can be ‘re-tuned’ and brought back into balance. By focusing on the face we are working close to the Central Nervous System so effects can be immediate, powerful and deeply relaxing.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a gentle specialist therapy that works on the functionality and drainage lymphatic system, stimulating it to work smoothly and efficiently, and thereby enhancing the immune system. It has a 'sympatholytic' effect, bringing ease and relief from pain and profound relaxation.
Specific movements on the skin by the practitioner gently stimulates the lymphatic circulation, working to break down and eliminate accumulated fluid build up and toxins, reducing swelling and water retention and promoting a feeling of lightness and energy throughout the body.
It is particularly effective for those suffering from Lymphoedema, Lipoedema or oedema, swelling of the face, neck, abdomen, sinus inflammation, acne rosacea, upper arm, thigh, breast, trunk or groin areas. It can also be helpful in preparing for pregnancy. For a deeper dive into MLD visit www.lymph.ie
It is also an important treatment post-operatively, whether cosmetic surgery or otherwise, bringing ease, helping to reduce pain and discomfort and helping to speed up recovery.
My 12 week pregnancy programme incorporates pre and post natal exercise, healing, balance, reflexology, stress management and mother and baby massage.
It is tailored to your needs as a new or expectant mum, and I’ll be there for you every step of the way at this very special time.
Therapeutic massage can incorporate the disciplines of deep tissue work, full body treatments, body part-specific therapy or simply relaxing and restorative massage.
The focus of this soft tissue release is to restore normal function to the body through pressure, passive / active stretching, ischemic compression and lifting and releasing of the fascia (the connective tissue that covers everything in the body).
I work on the principle that the individual is a whole organism – everything is connected and related. Shortened or knotted muscle tissue cannot function optimally, and the stimulation of touch brings about change in neuromuscular response and an improvement in the body’s range of movement and overall posture.
I started my career in health and wellbeing as a personal trainer, and sharing my experience and insights is one of my greatest joys.
Whether you’re training for a Tough Mudder or to be a tough mother, I can help you get to be your very best version of yourself.
I work on the gym floor, in the yoga studio, in the pool, in the Great Outdoors or online: whatever your preference.
Science, psychology and empathy combine to create a programme that you’ll stick with, get results from, and learn movement patterns and different ways of training that will stay with you for a lifetime.
I also now offer a 1:1 yoga coaching option for those who prefer the mat to the gym floor. Yoga is my first love and I am a fully accredited 500 hour yoga therapy instructor (YTI).
I am a qualified and experienced Level 4 exercise instructor for those living with or beyond cancer (CanRehab), and for those with cardiac conditions (BACPR) and Multiple Sclerosis. I also work with people pre and post operatively to ensure their minds and bodies are in the best possible shape for invasive procedures and recovery thereof.
I work actively in the arena of cancer care providing exercise support and counselling in conjunction with CanRehab and the Macmillan Trust, and I am an ambassador for the 5k Your Way programme which runs in partnership with Parkrun.
I have also worked successfully with people across a huge spectrum of conditions including Parkinson’s disease; Huntington's disease; Multiple Sclerosis, Diabetes mellitus (I & II); Cauda Equina; post-partum depression and psychosis; Alzheimer’s disease; rheumatoid and osteo arthritis; eating disorders: anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa; self-harm; anxiety; fibromyalgia; sarcoidosis; ME; and autistic spectrum disorders to name a few.
It is humbling and rewarding to see positive, life-enhancing change in people, whatever their disorder, when carrying out a carefully planned, safe and fun movement programme.

Everyone is different. Your reasons for seeing me are different, the way your body and mind responds will be different, and your day-to-day demands are different. Rest assured, I shall be very clear from the get-go. My aim is to get you moving well as quickly as possible to go out and live your very best life.
All treatments last 60 minutes including initial consultation and aftercare advice, and cost 70 euro per session.
Note that if you want to cancel an appointment I require 48 hours’ notice; otherwise you will still need to pay for any sessions missed. I accept payment in cash, by Revolut or by credit card.
Therapists cannot claim to diagnose or cure, but during a treatment we get ‘feedback’ as to which parts of the body are working well and which are not.
Often during the course of a treatment I will hone in on a specific area which is struggling or working hard to maintain your wellbeing; if a particular reflex point shows blockage or congestion, for example, we can work together to allow your body the means to heal itself.
It very much depends on the treatment necessary for your particular need. I do not subscribe, however, to the theory that ‘if it’s hurting it must be working.’
Your body is far more complex than that. Intuitive touch based on a learned response to what your body is telling me is far more effective for long term neuromuscular improvement. We will work together as a dream team to get you to your optimum once again.
I am based at West Wood Club, Westmanstown, Dublin 15, D15 T447.
You do not have to be a club member to book in with Power Down.
